Morning minyan and siyyum
Friday, April 19, 2019 • 14 Nisan 5779
6:45 AM - 8:30 AMThe Fast of The Firstborn (Ta’anit Bekhorim) reminds us that when the first-born of Egypt were slain during the tenth plague, the Israelite first-born were spared. In appreciation, all first-born Jews should fast on Erev Pesah.
However, this responsibility is nullified when the individual joins a festive meal marking the completion (siyyum) of the study of a Jewish text. Each year we arrange for a siyyum on Erev Pesah so that first-born need not fast that day.
Morning minyan will begin at 6:45 a.m. and will be followed by our siyyum and (a hametzdik) breakfast.
