Rabbi Steven Rubenstein
Steven Rubenstein has served as the Rabbi of Congregation Beth Ahm since 2005.  Prior to coming to Beth Ahm, he served as the Associate Rabbi of Congregation Beth Shalom in Kansas City, Missouri. During his time in the Metro Detroit area, Rabbi Rubenstein has served as the President of the Michigan Region of the Rabbinical Assembly and has served as an officer of the Interfaith Health & Hope Coalition.
He graduated from The State University of New York in Binghamton with a degree in Political Science in 1992. David Goodman – Executive Director
David possesses a strong combination of administrative skills and synagogue knowledge which guide him.  He joined the congregation in 2010 after a career in the automotive industry.
David has spent his life in a Jewish environment.  He was active as a child in his synagogue, held a leadership role in Young Judaea, and spent many years at Jewish summer camp.  He has served on the Board of Directors for the Jewish Community Center, Board of Trustees for Adat Shalom Synagogue, Chair of the Melton Adult Education Program, and was a member of Federation's Community Services Division planning committee.
David’s office door is always open and he greets everyone with a smile.  When not in synagogue, David enjoys family time with his wife, Annise, and Sara his daughter.  You can contact David directly at

Tova Schreiber - Programming & Engagement Coordinator
A graduate of Wayne State University, Tova plans and executes programming for the Congregation. She is also youth advisor to Motor City USY. Her career has included teaching, camp counseling, curriculum development, and religious school administration. Tova works hard to bring a sense of creativity, organization, and purpose to her role at Beth Ahm. In her spare time, she can be found writing, doting on her nephews, enjoying live music, and visiting museums.  You can contact Tova at
Elissa Berg - Religious School Director
Elissa is a lifelong Jewish educator and learner.  Her career started in kindergarten when she taught her school friends how to light Shabbat candles.  Her career evolved to include educational roles at Camp Tamarack, Temple Kol Ami, and Adat Shalom Synagogue.  She prides herself on teaching her students the "how and why" we do things Jewishly.  She holds a Masters in Jewish Studies from Spertus Institute of learning and is pursuing a doctorate.  She loves music and drama and incorporates both elements in her teaching.  She can be contacted at

Professor Howard Lupovitch – Ba’al Tefillah
Whether on the bimah reading Torah or teaching, Howard is a familiar voice within the Congregation. He serves as the Congregation’s regular Torah reader and often helps with davening.  A regular following of students enjoy his lecture series on Jewish history and contemporary topics. Howard is the Director of the Cohn-Haddow Center for Jewish Studies at Wayne State University.

Nancy Kaplan – Ritual Assistant
As a “life long learner,” Nancy has been encouraging people to do mitzvot and deepen their connection at Beth Ahm for a number of years. She organizes adult learning opportunities, promotes participation, and helps people feel good about their Jewishness and association with the congregation.  Personal contact with the membership and the sharing of our Jewish tradition is what she enjoys most about her role.  Nancy and her husband Mike have two children and three grandchildren. Alison Blau – Office Coordinator
When you walk into the office, Alison is there to greet you. Since 2003, Alison has served as Beth Ahm’s office coordinator.  She manages everything from tributes, to mailings, to special programs, and is a resource for anyone who needs help with a project.  Alison has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Michigan State University and enjoys spending her free time with her husband Ben and her cat.  You can contact Alison at
Linda Wright – Staff Accountant
With a calculator in hand, Linda manages the Congregation’s finances.  She is responsible for processing all of the Congregation’s financial transactions as well as financial reporting.  Working with people is her greatest joy, whether it be speaking with members on the phone or seeing them in the building.  In her free time, Linda likes travel and scrapbooking.  You can contact Linda at
Lisa Gates - Communications
Lisa's creativity is used to manage the congregation's communications.  She is responsible for the website, bulletin, and other digital and paper communications.  In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors & gardening, scrapbooking, and time with her family.  You can contact Lisa at
