The great Jewish historian Gershom Scholem notes that ideas and beliefs that appeared, at first, radical and heretical to Judaism sometimes wound up transforming and becoming an integral part of Jewish belief and identity. In this series, Professor Howard Lupovitch examines four rabbis who were condemned as renegades but whose ideas reshaped what it means to be Jewish in the 21st century.
